'Why me?' Installation, Beacon Centre Musgrove Park Hospital

Lucy is an Illustrator and Designer. She is also a self confessed collectahollic who rummages daily through her hoards of treasure to find inspiration for a new artworks. She takes a very layered approach when creating her illustration work, she has always found starting with a blank piece of paper difficult so will apply textures to a base by sticking stickers, painting paint and sewing patterned paper together. Making this her canvas she will then use images, objects, photos and digital illustrations to create the final image. 

Lucy`s illustration style translates well into producing artworks for public spaces, she often works with Art for Life at  Musgrove Park Hospital. One such commission was to produce an innovative exhibition to celebrate 60 years of the NHS, using the hospital photographic library, donated images and personal stories from patients and staff she created a piece that told the history of the Old Building, from it`s time as a war hospital through to the current day.

Lucy also enjoys working with children and recently completed a project with pupils at Bournville Primary School in Weston-Super-Mare, where she helped a team of of pupils to create a brand identity and big artworks for the newly built school. 

Lucy graduated in 2002 from The Surrey Institute of Art and Design with a Graphic Design degree and still enjoys working as a freelance designer. Working as a designer has helped Lucy develop strong concept and layout skills Lucy feels these translate well into all the creative work she does, enabling her to create high quality and considered pieces of work which both communicates a strong message and are visually impacting.
