The Worshipful Mayor of Taunton Deane, Councillor Jefferson Horsley will open Emergence - a major exhibition of contemporary art at a launch party to be held from 4 โ 7 pm. Saturday 10 July 2010 at The Auction House, Canal Road, Taunton.
350 flags will be installed by Dorset Artist Marie Laywine around the perimeter fence. This installation will represent a circle of hope for the future of art and culture in Taunton in which Somerset Emerging Artists Network is keen to play a major part.
A group of twenty artists who are members of Somerset Emerging Artists Network, an important and developing networking resource, will take part in this exciting exhibition of contemporary art which will be open to the public from 12 July to 6 August.
Entry is free and hours of opening are: 10 am โ 4 pm Monday to Friday, 10 am โ 6 pm Saturdays, Closed Sundays
The Auction House is the only surviving part of the old livestock market, currently under development as part of Project Taunton and now known as Firepool.
The group are supported by Taunton Deane Borough Council who have given them access to The Auction House for this important event and also by Somerset Art Works and Somerset College of Art and Technology.
